HorseSafe Around the World
It’s been a busy few months at HorseSafe, with continued growth both here in New Zealand and internationally.
HorseSafe is now being used and trialled across New Zealand, Australia, the UK, Belgium, and Ireland and is being evaluated in the USA, as we continue to expand into new markets and work with horse owners, veterinary practices, insurers, studs and other equine organisations.
On the technology side, there’s plenty happening too. We’ve been developing our next-generation enclosure, upgraded device firmware and improved GPS performance, while continuing to refine HorseSafe’s behaviour monitoring and alerts. We are about to launch a new ‘connected ecosystem’ range of features so look forward to that later this quarter.
VetTrue Integration Gives You More Health Data For Monitoring
We’re excited to be working on the integration of VetTrue’s continuous temperature monitoring technology with HorseSafe, which we will be formally releasing in Q4 this year.
By bringing temperature data together with HorseSafe’s continuous monitoring of a horse’s behaviour, activity, eating, lying and movement patterns, we can start to build an even more complete picture of a horse’s health and wellbeing.
A change in temperature can be important on its own, but when viewed alongside changes in behaviour – such as reduced eating, increased lying, unusual activity or other changes from a horse’s normal routine – it can provide owners and veterinary teams with valuable additional context.
The aim of the integration is to bring these different data points together within HorseSafe, helping owners and vets identify meaningful changes earlier and make more informed decisions about when a horse may need attention.
We’re looking forward to sharing more as the integration develops.

Staying Connected Across 42 Acres
For Grand Prix rider and horse breeder Jody Hartstone, keeping track of her horses across a 42-acre property isn't always easy. HorseSafe gives her another way to stay connected, monitoring activity and behaviour even when her horses are grazing out of sight or she's away from the farm.
When Jody's mares moved into fresh pasture, HorseSafe detected a sudden increase in activity and sent an alert to her phone. She knew exactly why they'd started running around, but the experience showed her what HorseSafe could pick up from the far corners of her property.
Supporting Rodney Animal Rescue
When a mare arrived at Rodney Animal Rescue with an uncertain foaling window, the team knew they could be facing a long period of close monitoring. With no confirmed breeding date, the mare could potentially foal anytime across a three-month window.
HorseSafe is helping the Rodney Animal Rescue team keep a closer eye on her as her pregnancy progresses, providing 24/7 monitoring of her activity and behaviour alongside the team's regular care and observation.
Our work with Rodney Animal Rescue is one example of how HorseSafe can support animal care, while we continue to work with veterinary professionals to explore its role in veterinary care.
